Guthrie Throw

The Guthrie Throw was designed by Charlie Sheppard, a British artist based in London whose practice spans mosaic, sculpture, installation and illustration. Charlie's whole practice is around finding the loose and organic within a form that's traditionally rigid - mosaic done his way, with a naive, playful energy that sits somewhere between ancient craft and contemporary art.
The Guthrie Throw captures that perfectly. It looks like a mosaic that's been blown apart and reassembled by hand - irregular fragments in burnt orange, dusty lavender, warm brown, amber, soft blue and deep plum, all outlined in pale lilac against cream. The shapes cluster and radiate across the whole surface, edge to edge, with no blank space and no focal point. Just pattern, movement and a nice, warm palette.
Every Slowdown Studio throw starts as an original artwork. We collaborate with independent artists around the world to translate their creativity into woven form. The Guthrie Throw is jacquard woven in the USA from cotton with at least 25% recycled cotton: lightweight, textured, and built to last. Use it as a couch blanket, a bed blanket, a wall art tapestry, or wherever you need a little colour or personality.
